South Boston Watering Hole - "Rebels
Roost Bar and Grill"
If you want a short 30 minute ride to a good bike friendly bar and
grill, consider going to Rebel's Roost in South Boston, VA. From
Hyco Lake, go North on Hwy 57 a couple of miles to Semora and turn right
at the flashing light onto Hwy 119. Go about a mile and bear left
onto Cunningham Rd. You'll follow this thru scenic countryside for
about 13 miles to Hwy 58 in Virginia. Turn right on Hwy 58 and go
to South Boston. At the intersection of Hwy 501, turn left and go
North thru South Boston for about 6 miles. You'll go past a Golden
Corral on the left in Centerville so start watching for Rebel's Roost on
the left in about 1/2 mile. It is in a little strip shopping
center with plenty of parking. If you miss it, you will end up in
Halifax so turn around and try again! SoBo is home to Ward and
Jeff Burton - NASCAR drivers. Map

Follow the rolling hills and the road turns into Wilkins Road
staying straight. In about 2 miles, intersect with Hwy 58.
Turn right and get in the left lane. Turn L at Turbeville onto
Melon Rd. Continue several miles enjoying the ride and cross the Dan
River in the bottom. Watch for second road on R and turn onto

Milton Watering Hole and Old Thyme Snack
Bar/Restaurant - Aunt Millie's
Just 6 miles away in historic Milton is Aunt Millie's. Sit on
the porch and sip a cold brew while the bikes and cars go by.
You might even run across a well know race car driver up there
testing at VIR. Aunt Millie's has great sandwiches, cold beer and top
off a hot ride with a banana split or deep chocolate ice cream! Just
go North on Hwy 57 from Hyco Lake and you're there. When
entering Milton, look for Aunt Millie's as the first store on the
right. Stroll down a historic town over 200 years old and much the
same as it was.

Uptown Roxboro Oldie but Goldie -
Toufielk's Cafe
If you want the best hot dog, BBQ
sandwich or homemade beef stew, Toufielk's is the place to go.
Leaving Hyco Lake, go south on Hwy 57 towards Roxboro. Follow
57 until it intersects with 501 in Roxboro at Stuart's Grill at the
stop light. Go straight across 501 up by the Law Enforcement
Center (don't snort your pipes here!) to the stop sign at the fire
station. Go straight ahead by the Courthouse and on the left
is Toufielk's famous Eatwell Cafe. It's a small place so get
there early or just park on the street and walk up to Merritt
Commons Pavilion to have a seat and enjoy your lunch. Open
Thursday-Saturday for lunch only. Double your normal order of hot
dogs because they are that good - homemade slaw and chili found no
where else on this continent!
